If they were caught it would make headlines, the stuff's probably already been pawned off by now.

Yep, it's probably a good idea to ask for a receipt or something of the sort if you try to buy a newer Mac off of craigslist. Obviously it wouldn't work for the fancier stores like the NY 5th Ave location, but I'm surprised they don't just use a gate of some sort like:

I suppose it doesn't go with the "Apple aesthetic".

Bluray is overrated.

WTF? You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. You probably think that nice little 6GB HD torrent you pulled down from somewhere is equal to Blu-ray in color quality, noise reduction, etc.... there is a vast difference between downloaded compressed HD movies and Blu-ray. That doesn't even include the audio differences... which are vast.

Blu-ray is to video quality as MP3 is to audio.

For those of us that would like to have a pristine movie experience.... Blu-ray is where it is at.

If you're going to buy it used, 9 out of 10 people do not have a receipt, especially if they got it hot.

besides, if someone is selling you a ipad for $150, would you ask for a receipt, not likely. they are selling it so cheap cause they want to get rid of it ASAP

Wow... it's a shop. They have insurance... who really cares about a few stolen laptops? They're replaceable and it's not like anyone was hurt. You lot have some strange priorities

Stolen products claimed on insurance = increased rates for all the rest of us.... it's not a magical money tree.

except it doesn't really work like that unless you have theft of epic proportions. 50k is a snip in the bigger picture. They probably make that net in a day.

I still think about how crazy this all is. Every time I walk into that store I think of this, and how crazy it truly is.
