Today I woke up and my ATV asked me to login to iCloud. As I looove the input method of my 32 character password I reached for my iPhone. While going to launch the ATV remote app I realized there is a notification on my iPad asking for keyboard input on the tv. The same comes up on the phone and then it starts going back and forth between them. I slide it down and can input text on the ATV without opening the app.

Is this new? I have never seen it before..

It's been around for a while -- ever since the first beta of the iOS Remote app for ATV. On 3D-Touch devices, pressing hard on the notification brings up the keyboard without fully going into the app itself.

Actually even on non-touch ID devices you can use the keyboard without going to the App. It seems like the API for this keyboard is not even linked to the Apple TV app, even if you don't have it installed on your iOS device you can use the keyboard for input on the Apple TV.
