They mean “Standard Chinese,” the Mandarin dialect spoken in and around the capital, which their government wants everyone to learn. “Simplified Chinese” is the state sponsored writing system derived from Traditional Chinese. If all you’ve been exposed to is Simplifed, it is hard to read anything published outside PRC. If you can read Traditional, you can read Simplified the way I read Chaucer, with a pocket dictionary.Something must have gotten lost in translation...

Sadly, this will get updated as fast as Apple MapsApple seems to forget the world is bigger than just this few languages again. It’s the yearly disappointment: may new features but not in many languages or regions outside US
And will be as accurate.Sadly, this will get updated as fast as Apple Maps
Exactly. They blend a lot of software update into new products introduction. Some new features they mentioned today for iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods also comes to older devices. That’s BS. Live Translation has little to nothing to do with the new “Airpods Pro 3.” It’s just another iPhone-powered feature like workout buddy.
Not compatible with Airpods 4 with no ANC?
IMO deepl is way better than google translate. ChatGPT is even better than deepl (most of the time)I feel like this is kinda like the Vision Pro calls were they use your avatar instead of video. It’s kinda cool that it’s possible but also really uncanny. I guess down the line it might be super smooth and quick and non robotic sounding.
For everything else we used Google translate for years.
I think it's like toddler ChineseSo… Simplified Chinese is a spoken language now? Nice update 🧌
It also prints the characters on the iPhoneSo… Simplified Chinese is a spoken language now? Nice update 🧌
More seriously, is it support for Mandarin Chinese then?
Oh, that does make sense 😅It also prints the characters on the iPhone
Me: "Tomarto"U.S. and UK people will finally understand each other yay 😝
The U.S. market is their biggest market, and they’re translating the languages used most. If they waited to roll it out worldwide, it would take much longer to develop, and any issues found during release would be exponentially worse and harder to fix on that scale.Apple seems to forget the world is bigger than just this few languages again. Whenever something great comes to older devices there’s always someone that complains lolThat’s BS. Live Translation has little to nothing to do with the new “Airpods Pro 3.” It’s just another iPhone-powered feature like workout buddy.
