Did the latest update fix the problem with maxing the ram to 4gb?

There is no problem if you get RAM specifically made for Apple laptops. If you get random/generic RAM, then that's another story.

Crucial and OWC RAM are hardly random/generic.

And what RAM in a ddr3 version is specifically made for macbooks? ddr3 is made to a certain spec and any laptop that uses ddr3 should be able to use ram from any manufacture. Now if the qc of that manufacture sucks then the ram will mostly likely be garbage but for the most part ram is ram.

    Yeah, it's sorted

Yeah, the RAM freezing issue was fixed in the firmware upgrade a week or so back. I was getting intermittent freezes with 4GB Crucial RAM before, now it's stable. It's nice having a computer which I can trust not to shred everything I'm working on at random intervals.

I was disappointed though when the MacBook failed to wake from sleep properly the other day - it seems that issue is still unresolved. Only happens very rarely, but still absolutely unacceptable.
