Hi All,

Wanted to get some opinions on this. I have a Mac Studio (M1 Max) in my home office which is my main computer and I use it for video/photo editing and everything else.

In my living room I have a large OLED TV, some game consoles and a gaming PC. I use a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse with the PC, and a controller for gaming.

Now I know I don't need an M4 Mac Mini, but I love it and want to add it to my media cabinet in the living room connected to my OLED, and using the same keyboard and mouse as I use with my PC (they are the ones with the little button that let you switch between devices). Lady Ruben won't be happy so I need some excuses for this impulse purchase!

For people that have a mini in their home entertainment setup, what are your use cases?

also, bonus question:

How does an M4 Mac Mini realistically compare to an M1 Max Mac Studio?

You already own an Apple TV 4K, a gaming PC, some consoles. What added value a Mac mini might bring you? If you just want to use a Mac on your TV, what about using AirPlay to cast your main Mac to your Apple TV 4K?

Compare to your M1 Max, M4 Mac mini is 50% better in single core; 10% better in multi core CPU performance; 50% worse in GPU performance.

If I were you I would just wait for the M4 Max Mac Studio, then use the old M1 Max Mac Studio as a home server or whatever.
