    Hey Guys,

I'm testing out the new Mac Mini 2016. It now features a full desktop Skylake CPU and a blue ray drive. The new Mac Mini is completely user upgradeable. Because of the desktop hardware the height has doubled compared to the mac mini 2014.

Where did you get the case? If the front ports could be a little more flush I might be interested in one for my next hackintosh.

What? Looks like a very legitimate hackintosh to me. And yeah, I'd love to see the specs on it too. ;)

Right, but that's not the problem lol. The post isn't saying it's a hackintosh. It's saying it's the new 2016 Mini. Which is obviously incredibly false.

Nope, it is actually incredibly true. Apple isn't going to bring out a 2016 Mini. Odds are, Apple isn't ever going to bring out a new Mini; they just don't seem interested in the project any more.

Therefore, the only Minis of 2016 (or probably from here on forward) are going to be hackintoshes.

Looks good, but I'm still waiting for someone to gut a toaster and use it to house a hackintosh. Can use the lever to fire it up.

Yes he's cereal. And don't call him Shirley. Introducing Mac bread, formerly known as the Mac mini. Stack several Mac bread slices together to create a powerful all-in-one magical Mac loaf.

Same post happened at this time in late 2014, before we got the current crop of minis.

Yeah, basically, I consider the current crop of Minis as "Exhibit A" that Apple no longer cares about them. By choosing only low-power CPUs, soldering the RAM to the motherboard, choosing only the least expensive storage options and then locking them down with security screws, Apple has indicated that they consider the Mini as no more than the entry-level Mac, and want to ensure that end users cannot improve them in any way. The thing is a toaster -- you set it on your desk, use it the way Apple intended for you to use it, and throw it in the trash when you're done with it.

I would love to see Apple return to a more powerful, more flexible desktop computer without an integrated screen. But I just don't see it happening...
