NEW Mac Mini - NO SIGNAL ??????

Just unboxed my new mac mini 2011 base model.

Used a mac adaptor via HDMI (from Mini) to connect DVI to DVI on my monitor.

My monitor is a Viewsonic VA2231wm (LCD screen) full HD 1920x1080.

Receiving a "No signal" on my display. Any suggestions?

Check the DVI cable.

dvi cable is new... just bought.

have you ever gotton the dvi cable to work?

I have had new packed cables be bad.

do you have another computer you can test this on? as well as another adapter and cable?

Does your monitor have alternate inputs (DVI, Analog) ... is the proper one selected as you have it hooked up?

(sorry if you have already checked this ... but sometimes we forget...)

Ive had this happen when using a non-apple adapter, but you may also want to check displays on system preferences. Is it registering the external monitor? If not then clearly its a cable issue...

I read somewhere that its best not to use hdmi with vga or dvi

Displayport has more compatibility
