New Mac Mini Reportedly Set to Launch Before iPhone 18 Pro Event

So the question is will it be the M5 Pro w/ 64 GB of RAM? Is the form factor the limitation on a M5 Max + 128 GB combo like the MacBook Pro has? After all the rumors it will be interesting to see if it's really released today/tomorrow.
I got my M4 Mini for $499 and now they want me to pay $799 for virtually the same computer? Forget it, Tim. You ain't getting a going away present from me.

The market for a new M5 Mac mini isn’t M4 upgraders, or even existing Mac users of any kind. It’s for the army of people and orgs wanting to run local agentic AI. Apple will sell every single M5 mini they can build to this group without the traditional upgrade value proposition even entering into it.
You'd be insane to do an upgrade for couple of % of performance gain you won't even notice. This artificial FOMO macrumors and others are pumping for Apple is insane. Even Apple doesn't recommend (it wishes though) you upgrade so frequent. And at a loss of money.
Looking forward to this ... except I certainly don't won't anything assembled in the US! Fortunately I'm outside the US, so mine will probably be made somewhere that understands the manufacture of quality items.

That’s why it will be a quiet press release.
To me this sounds like a production decision, not a marketing decision. Perhaps production of base M4 chips is being shut down or slowed, as the have enough stockpiles for iPad airs until the refresh, and have enough base M5 chips to be able to supply mini production as well as MacBooks and iPad Pros.
One production line is cheaper than two.

Probably, but these days any laptop is a better, or at least a more obvious, choice than a desktop.
But the mini very much does have its place - it’s a very useful, adaptable box; both as a heart of desktop, easily expandable with breadboxes, and as a headless box (server, AI box, etc).
It's the other way round - you're getting 256 for the old price of 512. Don't think they'll reverse that in the current climate. but it would be nice...

As long as teh margins are the same, Apple doesn't care what they ship since the margin is the same, even though revenue may be smaller.

Given Apple's pricing structure for extra memory and storage there's far more profit in higher spec machines than lower spec machines, even with the increased costs of memory and NAND chips to Apple.
But ultimately, yes, sales volume is the important factor. Apple sells a hell of a lot more iPhones than Mac Studios.

I'd be confident in laying down money to bet that a new Mac mini is almost certainly coming at some point in the future.
What odds do you think a bookie would give me on this?

Can confirm. ( I'm based in Europe, fwiw )
Comes with 2.5Gb ethernet as standard, with upgrade to 10Gb ethernet - both base and pro models.
Was this the same on the M4 Mac mini and Mac mini pro, or did that come with 1Gb ethernet as standard?
Everything else looks pretty much the same, bar the SoC bumps.
The Mac Mini has become so popular it seems like this deserves to be the highlight of the October/November event. This would be an odd product to drop with a release.

1Gb standard. They also upgraded the “WiFi and Bluetooth “ standards but i assume that comes with the chip.
