I've a new Mac Pro 6.1 and need to install 10.9.5 - it appears apple have done something tricky to stop the machine booting from 10.9.5
Steps i've done so far to try install:
after various other steps including - trying a bootable usb
i've booted the machine in target mode then copied a clone of a freshly installed 10.9.5 from another machine (using a software called super cooper) - this didn't work , when i booted i got a folder symbol with a question mark, i've also tried booting from another machine over thunderbolt … got white circle with line trough it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as right now i've got a very expensive paperweight

For the most part Macs will not run an operating system that was released before the machine was the drivers are not there for the support and Apple does checks in the installer for machines it supports. Unless someone has figured out hack like they do with the older 1,1 1,2 machines to run the newer software you will be stuck with a virtual machine for your 10.9.5. If virtual machine is not your cup of tea then you have bought the wrong machine to do what you need to do.

I have many other machines , 6.1 macpros also running 10.9.5 , they were not shipped with el capitan but with Yosemite they rolled back without issue i expected that an el capitan machine would do the same

The Mac Pro 6,1 was originally released with Mavericks.

Hey I am about to try the same thing - But I am debating on buying a used Mac Pro from release or going with a brand new one. Everything still working ok for you? had any experience since then with newer OS and the Mac pro?
