I wouldn't expect the current structure to change until Nehalem in late 08/early 09. Simply because then it might be much more economically viable for Apple to make two MP models - a single socket and a dual socket (since its glueless multi-processing, motherboards become somewhat cheaper to design and manufacture). Also, they get to use RDDR3 (registered DDR) instead of the expensive and hot FB-DIMM. So prices could come down a little - I'm hoping for a single socket being $1800 or so.

The title of this thread should be changed.... it might make some people's heart jump for no reason. For instance, change it from

"New Mac Pro Pricing"

to

"Will There Be New Mac Pro Pricing???"

I doubt anything will change except maybe the individual component pricing but thats more or less a given, it will stay 2500.

Yep, they tend to stay within the ballpark -- and go up or down just a bit every now and then.

Might be nice to see them keep a low end/GHz dual core machine around for $1499, but it likely won't happen.

i thought the same thing, who the hell knows if there is going to be a new mac pro, so once we get that established then maybe we can talk about pricing

DDR3 is way more expensive than the current Fully-Buffered DDR2 DIMMs...
