Does it work with Lion too? If you buy a new mac with Lion, can you upgrade your other machines?

Well here's something to think about... this linking to your Apple ID also means you can't sell the mac with the software you bought on the app store unless you want to let the buyer keep the Apple ID.

I want to know this also
You can upgrade to iLife '11 on the other machines, but not with Lion. But one key feature of the Mac App Store is that a single purchased license permits downloading of the software to any machines owned or controlled by the person linked to that Apple ID and logged in with the account. That key feature means that the iLife licenses issued to new computers via the Mac App Store permit users to download the software to their other Macs that may not have been upgraded to the latest version of iLife.
I won't believe it until someone actually does it. If I buy a MacBook Air today, you think iLife will appear "Installed" in my Mac App Store?? Good luck! Show me.
Yeah in some cases it does. My wife got a new iMac just before Lion was released, and we used the voucher code from the Up To Date program. It added Lion to the App Store for all registered machines (also using it on my 24" 2008 iMac).
iLife doesn't show up though. Maybe because they know this Mac was shipped with a DVD?
Apple's new computers shipping with Lion do not include physical restore media and instead utilize a hidden recovery partition to allow users to reinstall their system software should the need arise. But as noted by Macworld, reinstallation of the iLife '11 software included on new Macs occurs via the Mac App Store, which recognizes the machines' iLife licenses and links them to users' Apple IDs during the initial setup process.

Apple has embraced the cloud so I guess they view DVDs as ancient history 🙂, one less thing for their engineers to worry about. But it would still be nice to have some kind of a DVD like wrapper (UI with menus) around our home movies...?

The applications were included in the boxed version of iLife '11, but did not receive any meaningful updates from the iLife '09 versions, meaning that users with fully-updated iLife '09 installed are already running the most up-to-date versions of iWeb and iDVD anyway.

I bought the new MacBook Air and the answer is, no, Lion is not added to your App Store account. Only iLife.
Since iDVD and iWeb aren't going to be getting new updates or be there whenever I get a new Mac, and since I haven't really used either one of them in a long time, is there a way I can remove iDVD and iWeb from my Mac easily and without hurting anything?
