Yeah. Maybe I'm missing something? Ebay had them for $10. I'm used to seeing wireless cards in the $30-$40 range.

Well, they don't have an :apple: on them, so they can be had much cheaper.

:D

May be a stupid question, but why do I want a "mini" usb? Is the "mini" referring to the wireless adapter (since its so small) or the USB as in one of those half size USB deals? The picture looks like a standard USB.

I supposed you'd want mini so it sticks out less and is less unsightly. Mini refers to the size; it is standard USB.

I have no clue why they're so cheap. I own 2 of them. They work great. I have one on an older G4 iMac and one, sadly, on a pc. Its good on both of them.

I'm guessing they are so cheap because they are made overseas which makes the prices lower.

What are you talking about? Everything is made overseas. Including in almost all of Apple. Its only designed in the US.

Uh yes but Apple is a brand name. Many inexpensive things from eBay are generic no-name products so they are sold for much less.

and you find often the same internal electronic because they come from the same factory .without the brand name for 70%less :D
and amazingly they still make profit because they make the profit through numbers and only sell through online stores :D
Apple could do the same but then they might not be able to pay their managers millions per year and you would not see Apple stores
which cost a huge amount of money and we might still only get osx tiger and the Top apple Mac would still be the iMac g4
...which would actually be not that bad at all :)

I love buying generic products because generally they are the same but cost so much less.:D

Emac: usb wifi or airport extreme wireless?

Hi people,

I'd love to here several people's opinions about what wireless adapter I should get for my eMac (I bought this refurbished computer, which has Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard PowerPC G4, 1.42 GHz, Single Core,512 MB, and 80 GB hard drive).
I'm told it can probably use an Airport Express card #A1026, but someone said to go with usb wifi.
Would you agree?
But what about the antenna? Since it supposedly needs to be used with the Airport Extreme card, will I have to use an antenna with a usb wifi? (like, one directly on the usb stick)?

I'm looking to order one today....please help me! Thank you so much.

I bought a linksys usb yesterday...not supported for mac, but I found a driver online to make it work and its great...$14.99 at tigerdirect.
