Just got my new iMac and I'm trying to connect my HD camcorder with the firewire cable. I no longer have the box for the cable but both sides of the cable are exactly the same and there is not an end that is compatiable with the iMac. Sorry for the stupid question but what firewire cable do I need? My manual says firewire 800 but are there other sizes/configurations I need to know about (male to male, prongs, etc). Thanks in advance!

You most probably need a 4-pin to 9-pin Firewire cable like the following:

The 4-pin end goes into your camera, the 9-pin end into your iMac.

9-pin on iMac (FW 800 port)
