hi, just about to order my macbook pro 13 inch.
just a few questions before i order.
im in college at the moment in the uk just about to finish, next week to be exact. just wondering if i can still get the education discount if i order now or do i have to just be starting a course?
as im not on campus in going to have to phone up to order so will i still be able to get the ipod and printer rebate using the phone?
what sort of checks are carried out to check that im a student, and if they do checks will they do them now when im purchasing or later on?
sorry for the long post just want to make sure everythings correct

thanks in advance

If you go to the apple store, I think they just check for an school ID

If you order online, I don't know that they do any sort of checking.

there isnt any apple stores near where i am. maybe i'l just have to give them a ring see what they say?

I've just bought mine via the phone through the educational store. Apparently you can't get educational discount from an Apple Store. You have to do it online or on the phone.

Over the phone you get assigned a rep, and they require a student ID card (scan/photo) you email through to him/her. Place your order with them and thats it.

I still have to do the rebate part. I have to cut some stuff off the boxes and send it back to Apple then they send out a cheque.

BTW I ordered my 13" MBP the day it was launched and it arrived the next day. :)

I don't know about the UK but for the US apple store online all you have to do is click the education store select your school and thats it. No check at all. I have never tried phone ordering.

in the uk you have to do it using the college computers which are on the college intranet making you have to do it there.

thanks for the help everyone :)

Fortunately my university provides remote login (to the campus network) via Citrix. If this service is available to you then it's a very easy way to get access to the Higher Education discount while at home.

If you go to the Apple Store Online and click "Chat", someone will start to chat with you. Just explain that you are not at your school/college/uni at the moment and need to order a MacBook Pro 13-inch. They'll ask you which establishment it is, tell them.

They'll then send you a link to get you into the Higher Education store. Just click it, thank them and go ahead and order your new MBP!

They rarely ask for proof, but be prepared to give it when asked. I wasn't aware Apple did Higher Education pricing until my third year of uni, and I only just managed to get my order in while I was still eligible. I suggest you do so very soon.

And good luck with the sweet little goodness that is the new MacBook Pro 13-inch!

so its all ordered but not suppose to arrive til 29-30th june!!
