Mine does it as well. Went to Apple Store 1 week after I bought it. They said it's a sticker on the battery that does that and "fixed" mine but issue got back a week after. I was to live with it by my spacebar key has a crack line so I'll get it exchanged (i hope) and cross my fingers the new one will be OK.

Heh, just noticed this. It happens if I hold it by one of the corners.

TBH, as Steve would have said, I'll probably just avoid holding it that way. It's a bit reckless putting all that pressure on one point of an expensive notebook.

I suspect it's that the casing is quite thin and so with the weight and leverage, you are putting pressure on the batteries inside. I'm sure the Apple engineers probably know what they're doing and that it's safe. But seeing as the batteries are lipos (dangerous if damaged), it's probably best to play it ultra safe and not make them creak.

Wouldn't that void the warranty?

DOnt quote me on this but I don't think so. I think the warranty fails to cover internals that you damage if you open it. Its your device, its your right to open it or tighten up it's screws, is my understanding.

My MBA is creak free. And if it wasn't Id get it replaced. It baffles me when I read posts along the lines of "its only a creak, so what. live with it". No, I wouldn't just "live with it" I pay through the nose for apple stuff in order to receive perfection and not to have to "live with" irritating, tawdry, second rate goods. In the words of Half A Shilling - "send the buggers back!"

4 months old- noises started within the first week or 2. Creaking was pretty bad- about a 6 on the annoyance meter- when picked up by, or squeezed near the bottom corner.

Even though the Apple Store was mobbed, when I told them it was a "60-second repair" and told them exactly the issue, it took about 2 minutes- in and out of the store.

They tightened the screws and problem solved. :D

They did that for me at the apple service centre but three weeks after that it started creaking again. Just gonna live with it for now since everything else is working fine.
