New Macbook Air for 1080p video editing?

More than adequately imo. As fast as the Pro? No, but will it be done within a reasonable time? Most likely.

Light editing for one person could be something totally different for another. If you mean stitching some clips/phots together with transitions and stuff like that it will be more than adequate. Its an extremely low power CPU (Y series) so I wouldn't expect your output file too quickly depending on the length of the video.

I used to have the latest Macbook for photo editing

It was clearly painful to use photoshop on it to open several RAW files at the same time

I don't see how it could be comfy to edit videos with a MB, therefore, as the new MBA has a similar processor (or slightly faster), it won't be much different

I am also hesitating, so waiting for reviews and benchs

How much RAM did you have? I'm in the same boat, except I'm on a 2011 MBP.

I would think 1080p60 wouldn't tax it too badly. May have longer waits when rendering and exporting, but playback should be good. Your "big brother" (4K vs. 1080p) thread is here.
