Hi guys,

there is a lot of gossip about new macbook air line coming in Q1 next year. Especially macbook air 15 inch which I think would be fantastic. The question is will apple keep 16:10 ratio or switch to 16:9? I know 11 inch air is already 16:9 as well as imac but other products are fortunately still 16:10.

I want to buy 15.4 16:10 laptop so I dont know if I should wait for macbook air or rather buy macbook pro as it maybe the last chance to get 16:10 laptop

I really doubt they'd make anything above the 11" 16:9.

16:9 is horrible for bigger laptops.
I agree it is horrible but today Apple is the only company who still uses 16:10. Other companies have already switched to 16:9.

Btw Imac is a big display and has 16:9 already :(

Yeah, I doubt that Apple prefers 16:9 over 16:10 but at some point it will probably become significantly more expensive for them to keep ordering 16:10 panels when all the display manufacturers are churning out mostly 16:9.

I believe it was one of the Asus ultrabooks that has a 13" 1600x900 screen, that would probably work pretty well in the 13" Air and you wouldn't be losing any vertical resolution.

ugh, this is terrible. 16:9 is ok for huge desktops screens, but for small/portable laptops it's a disaster.
I really hope this isn't the case...

There is only one reason why the 11" is a 16:9 aspect ratio and that is due to Steve Jobs hard on for having a standard size keyboard. They needed the extra width to fit the keyboard. Personally I would rather have a marginally smaller keyboard and a 16:10 display

Personally, I use my mac with the dock at the bottom, and always visible. So that makes all of the windows I use 16:9 near enough. This is how I like it, and I am sure I am not the only one who does the same. I love, love, love the screen on my 13" MBA.
