That's amazing James_C, thanks for posting that. You've got the exact model I've been debating over, and it's really useful to see those numbers.

Looking at the reports it seems like the Air only loses about 5 or 10% in Cinebench vs the Pro, and the machines are otherwise on par. And it's completely silent!

My own 5-year-old MacBook Pro scores 855/2017 in Cinebench R23. I was going to wait for models with bigger chips next year but looks like even the Air will be a massive upgrade.

Just ordered the 13" Pro, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD for in store pickup today. Feel like a kid on xmas
If only I didn't already have an edu store order in place and if the nearest Apple store weren't well over an hour away... ;)

So new M1 Air is around twice as fast as my 2016 MBP - Both have 16GB RAM
... while the MBA remains completely silent and the MBP has you looking for the jetliner taking off...

Coming from an early 2015, there should be a huge difference for me.
I want the 16GB but I’m buying from Best Buy and they only have 8GB in stock with either 256 or 512SSD.

Now I need to find a buyer for my 2015 MBP. 8/256

How does microsoft office run?

I have just installed the Beta Version of Microsoft (Office) 365. These are universal apps and they run better than on my 2016 MacBook Pro. I have a short video that shows how quickly they open on the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro.

Also opened Apple Keynote as well

Funny thing I shot the video above on iPhone and edited using Screenflow on the MacBook Pro and exported the video to Vimeo, even though its only a Minute long - Fans still went into overdrive on the MacBook Pro. Hopefully screen flow will get updated soon for Apple Silicon.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! Quick question: did you install microsoft 365 from the mac app store or from online to get the latest versions?

You need to use the Microsoft Autoupdate App to switch to the Beta version so don't use the Mac App store. The Mac App Store version only lets you install the current (Intel) version of the app.
