Apple's new M4 MacBook Air is now being delivered to customers worldwide following the pre-order period that began on March 5. The same goes for Apple's new versions of the iPad, iPad Air, and Mac Studio. For those who didn't pre-order or chose to wait, the new models are currently readily available, and select Apple Store locations globally are offering same-day or next-day pickup options.

As of writing, Apple's online stores in the United States and Canada haven't yet been updated to show pickup availability, but shortages aren't generally expected and there is unlikely to be much variation state by state. Meanwhile across the pond, all models and configurations are available for Apple Store pickup today in many European countries including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

To order a product with ‌Apple Store‌ pickup, add the product to your bag on Apple.com or in the ‌Apple Store‌ app, proceed to checkout, select the "I'll pick it up" option, enter your ZIP or postal code, choose an available ‌Apple Store‌ location, select a pickup date, and select a 15-minute check-in window. Payment is completed online, and a valid government-issued photo ID and the order number may be required upon pickup.

The new devices are also available for walk-in customers at ‌Apple Store‌ locations with sufficient inventory, but availability can't be guaranteed. Walk-in customers may be placed into a separate queue with lower priority upon arrival to the store.

Apple's updates focused on more powerful chips with minimal other changes. The MacBook Air now features an M4 chip and a new Sky Blue color, while the Mac Studio gains Thunderbolt 5 ports and options for either an M4 Max or M3 Ultra chip.

On Apple's iPad lineup, the 11-inch iPad now runs on an A16 chip (which lacks Apple Intelligence support), while the iPad Air upgrades to an M3 chip, replacing the M2. Pricing starts at $349 for the iPad, $599 for the iPad Air, $999 for the MacBook Air, and $1,999 for the Mac Studio.

Did you get a new iPad or Mac? Share your first impressions in the comments below. We'd love to know what you think.

I popped into Covent Garden just now, there was a few people buying the new Airs but otherwise just a normal day at an Apple Store. The blue looks nice though!

The days of long lines of people waiting for the latest Apple products seem long gone. Most people already have a recent iPad Air or iPhone and there just isn’t the excitement or need for it anymore.

In the early days it was understandable, they were new classes of devices that were really transformative. But now, it’s just an iPhone or iPad. If you have an iPad from 2018 or newer, the performance or ability hasn’t changed much for the average consumer unless you’re really wanting Apple intelligence.

One question I have… is the new iPad Air compatible with the Magic Keyboard that was usable on iPad pros and airs a few year ago? Or first gen Magic Keyboard

the new magic keyboard is compatible with the m2 air, so I would assume the keyboards that worked on the m2 air will also work on the m3
I may check with apple support to be sure. There is no reason why not, except to force people to buy new accessories but this keyboard is expensive.

I certainly enjoy my iPad on its own, but in my opinion, when you factor in the extra weight and cost of adding a keyboard, the MacBook Air offers much better value and is easier to navigate.

Absolutely. Adding a keyboard and trackpad to an iPad makes zero sense to me. Just get a Mac and have a better experience in every way.

I miss the darker colors, why does Apple not like dark colors?
They are pro colors.

I’m sure it’s deliberate. They have done it to many lower priced devices in recent years. Lots of light pastel colors.

Which is fine but I think part of the motivation, if I’m being cynical, is to reserve the darker and professional looking colors for the more expensive devices.

Like now there is no black option for the iPad keyboards unless you buy the pro model. Which is very very disappointing.

I’m certain it will spread to more devices such as the pencil and AirPods soon.

Poor selection of colours for these models. Space grey has gone and only white keyboards for the iPad and iPad Air.

If you want black, that’s pro 😂

I didn’t realize this until your post. Glad I latched on to a M3 MBA in midnight.

does anyone know if the iPad Pro 11 (1st gen) smart keyboard folio works with the iPad (A16)

Think there will be plenty of stock available for in store pick up. Planning to visit a store to check out the new colour. Thinking of getting the new MacBook Air in a few month's time.

I just found out that this morning (Thursday, March 13th, 2025) Micro Center started carrying both the entry level configs of the new Mac Studio models (M4 Max and M3 Ultra) for a whopping 15% OFF Apple's retail price. I ordered a Mac Studio from microcenter.com (if you have a local Micro Center store near you.) The price for the Mac Studio M4 Max is currently $1,699 (down from $1,999 retail price) and the Mac Studio M3 Ultra is $3,399 (down from $3,999 retail price). You mileage may vary. Just wanted to let people know that Micro Center is offering 15% off Apple's list prices on new Mac Studio models. If you have Micro Center's credit card, you can get an extra 3% off your purchase price. Also, they have the new M4 Macbook Air base models for $849 (15% off of $999 retail peice)!
