New MacBook and iPod

Hi All!

I've posted something similar in the past, but i'm still as confused as ever! 😕

OK, i've got several options and they are below, can you advise on the best one please:

I'm gonna buy a Merom 17" MBP the second it comes out, so that is in every option! 😀 I also have a £23 of voucher. But i'm buying my MacBook Pro edu discount as i'm at school!

1. Buy a Merom 17" MBP and no iPod of any kind. Give my code away.

2. Buy a Merom 17" MBP and a 30GB or 60GB "old" iPod with the £100 rebate. Give code away.

3. Buy a Merom 17" MBP and a "new" 30GB or 80GB iPod (preferably 80GB) ignore rebate, and use code

4. Buy a Merom 17" MBP and a a "new" 30GB or 80GB iPod (preferably 80GB) buy a 2GB mini for £19 with the rebate, and use code

Vote at the top if you wish! 🙂

I CAN afford the 80GB iPod, but I should really save some money, but I don't actually have an MP3 player, as i've sold my Archos about 2 months ago, and not got round to replacing it, using my phone in the iterum, but it's not ideal.

If you have everything you need to properly outfit your MacBook Pro, including
2 GB RAM, Bag, Back-up external HD, printer, software and AppleCare and you still have money to burn, buy anything that makes you happy.

Hmm...

I'm gonna buy the usualy software e.g. iWork .mac Office 04 Windows etc.
max out the RAM 2GB and buy Apple care in a few months
treated myself to a crumpler "bright orange" bag as well 😛

I could do with lots of things!

But i'm "saving" for a car!
So as wierd as it sounds, the less I spend now, lets me buy my 1st car sooner, kinda???

But I want some new gadgets! 😀

Well the included iWork and MS Office 04 are demos, so if you plan to use them
on a regular basis, you'll need the permanent apps.

Is this going to be for general use, audio, video or what?

I got all this great stuff for my tower , then started looking at the prices of DAW software, interfaces, mics, cable plugins and it keeps on going.

If you are doing something important and that machine is what you use to generate
your income, you gotta have a solid back-up plan.

If you really have extra money to burn, buy a nice big external display.

Yeah, I was planning to buy all that software straight away, as it seems preety good! 🙂

It's going to be used for school A-Levels etc.

Nothing too specialised, maybe programming at the most.

It's going to replace my aging P4 2.4GHz and be my main machine day in day out (take it on the go!). I like to push my stuff to it's limits and beyond! So I need a high spec PC that can cope with whatever I throw at it! Hopefully Mac's portable flagship product will do me! But it's going to be hammered! (That's why I'm going to get Apple care when I can really get going!)

BTW: I'm not talking about throwing it around etc. I'm talking about a software "hammering" - get it running at full speed! etc. just in case some were wondering.

I've NEVER actually had an iPod either, but now that they have caught up with Archos etc. who I have used for ages, i'm thinking of swaping to an 80GB iPod so it can easy sync with iTunes etc. etc.

If i've not made my mind up by 21st - PM me and i'll give you the code. It expires on the 30th
