Hello,

I am about to buy a new macbook air. I am wondering if I should buy mountain lion for my mac pro... is it possible to have the mountain lion installation on the macbook air install on my mac pro?

ya know... like the good old days when new computers came with disks...

thanks,
r.

yes use this guide to make your own install usb of mountain lion

http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/17/make-bootable-os-x-10-8-mountain-lion-usb-install-drive/

or you can use this small app that does the same as the guide

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/39701/lion-diskmaker/

I'm not sure how it works when pre-installed, but my free upgrade is in the App Store and I just downloaded it for my Mini

Duff-Man says....I think this has been covered several times. IIRC, the OS license you get with a new computer is for that computer only, not all the computers you have. To be legit, you need to buy a copy for your Mac Pro....oh yeah!

As long as I use the same Apple ID login in Apple's App store I can download ML for whatever Apple product I use that uses OSX. The USB key I don't think checks itself against a certain serial # prior to installation, not that I'm aware of.

hmmm...

so i updated my mac pro to mountain lion but i waited to updatemy macbook air to mountain lion, due to the battery issue...

now it seems i cannot update my mac air to the new version of mountain lion.

how do i get the mountain lion installer on my mac air?

thanks,
r.
