What do you think / want the new MacBooks to look like?
Personally, I'd quite like to see them fit in more with the rest of the Mac line, maybe have the black, contrast helping border around the screen ala iMac? Be aluminium in colour?

A nice black keyboard to go with the border would be a nice throwback to the PowerBook Titanium, and would fit better than the iMac's keyboard does with it's colour scheme.

Perhaps the design will be more akey to that of the iPhone? A completely glossy black exterior with aluminium innards with chrome hi-lights might be quite stylish.

Just my thoughts anyway. Here's a quick mock up of what i'd like to see in what (hopefully) will be my next laptop purchase!

I'm not too fond of any of those. I'm not sure why, but they don't seem too Apple to me.

gotta be honest but the black keyboard might be the ugliest thing ive ever seen, the others aren't bad but that one just isn't going to do it for me

i like the one on the right the best... the white keyboard against the silver body looks cool and matches the imac color scheme

I would say they are the ugliest lappy's I have ever seen. Glad I bought my macbook pro when I did, this year. What a relief!

I like the idea of a black surround around the screen. With the glossy screen this would look very nice.. and matches iMac Alu's too

    A few critiques:

    1) Apple is abandoning iWhite for Titanium across the board. In fact, the Macbook and the Mighty Mouse are more or less the only things left without the Titanium color scheme. Even the iPods have gone Titanium. Personally, I'd be very surprised if the next generation Macbooks didn't resemble 12" Powerbooks.

    2) Warning: Opinion ahead. I hate the black border on the new iMac. It's disgusting. Apple's designs are known for their smoothness. But the iMac border... it stands out. It's one of their biggest design blunders in years, personally.

Now, as for Photoshop skills, nicely done! :D

Apple wouldn't -ever- release something that looked like that, sorry.

But one should note the professional specs and nice small size of that IBM laptop. It's a form factor many wish Apple would reintroduce.

    Well thankyou very much!

tbh i was aiming fr them to by "aluminium" but it ended up grey-ish.

About the iMac's black border, i understand COMPLETELY what you're saying. It looks out of place and looks like a design flaw really... but the thing about the black borders is that it gives a hi-contrast with what's on the screen, especially when they're glossy. Black surrounds give almost an illusion of better contrast ratios, and with the increase in screen size, i think Apple are trying to cater for people who are using there iMac's to watch videos and use Front Row on them?

    Maybe, maybe im rambling!

    :p

    I Like it!

:apple:I happen to like the one on the left and right, but the one with the black keyboard is quite ugly. I also like the black border. Anyways, all I wanted to say, even though these arn't spy pics; when everyone saw the fat nano, they all thought everyone was going to hate it, but once it came out, everyone liked it. Well, ok, Most people liked it. What I'm trying to say is, things look differnt in person than they do in pictures. I'd be all for this design! But lets at least hope for a redesign soon!:apple:

What I'd like to see is the following:

Design similar to current with the dimensions being reduced - the current macbook screen has almost 2 cm of plastic on all sides, reduce that to as little as possible. After that, make it a bit thinner (an inch, like the MBP) and perhaps a bit lighter. Put Santa Rosa inside and you're done. Perhaps make SSD an upgrade option.

I think most of this isn't too delusional :D.

I can see a problem with color schemes though - silver vs. white has been the main difference seperating the low end and high end laptops for quite some time I think, while this wasn't the case with iPods, keyboards and some other stuff that turned to silver lately. It may cause some minor trouble...

They look a bit too Sony Vaio, a little less Mac for my liking :)

I think Apple go into aluminium across the board, still there probably needs to be a way to separate the pro and consumer lines.

I think now Leopard is out, the Macbooks sales go up so that they can get rid of the leftover supplies and afther that bring out a new Macbook. Just an idea..
I like the first one but I don't think it is a good idea. For a desktop it is but for a laptop, space is already limited so I don't think so. Nice idea though!

    I must admit...

...as far as MacBooks go, I like the middle one. Kinda reminds me of the TiBooks.

Still, if I were in that market, my money would go on the MBP, I have a friends one next to me.

    However I'm not, so I'm scouring eBay for a 1.5GHz 12PB :)

I like the first one a lot, the latter laptops just don't work, particularly the black keyboard.

    First one please :D
