And replace it with what? Another MBP that's sure to have the same problem? From the number of reports I've seen here, and on Apple's forums this seems to be rather widespread, most likely a software/firmware problem.

What the heck are you talking about? I was saying if this is a MBP is a 2011 model and it is not working correctly then it should go into AppleCare ASAP to get fixed. The longer the poster waits then the Mac might not be covered by AppleCare. If the poster wants to just be on the net and complain but not go it it fixed while it is still under warranty then that person has no body to blame but themselves.

So don't butt in a read into what I posted and twisting what I was saying. That is just plain rude!

Me too

17" 2011 with the same problem, only no tethering involved. Just crashing. Happens very often, several times a day sometimes. Seems to be happening more when downloading large files via firefox. Crashed on me 5 times in a row with a 67Mb aif file. Finally switched to Safari and it downloaded without crashing. For me, maybe Firefox is the culprit. Going to start paying more attention to whether FF is open when it happens.

This is by far my most loved and most hated computer ever! Have 4 other macs in the house and I've seen that screen maybe 6 times ever before this computer. Now, anywhere from once a week to 6 times a day.
