getting 6 1/2 to 7 hrs..

I get about 6 1/2 -7 thrs on my battery and my MBP is almost 2 years old I love it. Think it might be the news SSD drive I installed last year before that I could only get 5 hours and a bit:cool::cool:

I just bought a new MacBookPro 15'' and i'm extremely disappointed how Apple mislead how the notebook can run 8hrs without a charge. The most I was able to get was around 4hrs or so. Is anyone else noticing this also?

Also, I noticed the battery is not removable. My old MBP had a removable battery. This really sucks!

Everything else is great with the notbook, now have to decide what to do, if I should keep or return.

8 hours = ssd and barely using the computer. I'm sure when apple came up with this they turned off the sleep options and let it run until it passed out, disabling everything.

Now that's out of the way. I usually get a good 3 or 4 hours but that is with watching a movie or surfing the internet aimlessly, while the keyboard is usually lit at 1 bar and the display at about half way or more. i have 2 ssd's and did not notice the battery life decreasing at all after installing the 2nd one. I would go so far as to say good luck getting a better battery in a pc, but I'm sure you could and it would probably be replaceable as well.

did anyone honestly believe the whole 8 hour sales pitch? I guess if you really need it you can do it, but I was shooting for about half that the way I use my MBP, and I was not let down. So methinks it's still a good battery with a lot of life, even if apple likes to exaggerate.

I also think its better to bring a new thread back to life than starting a new one, since the battery option changed but the topic is still the same. I'm a zombie fan, and I have great cardio.

I am now getting 4-5 hours under the same conditions that gave me 7+ hours in Snow Leopard. I blame Lion for this.

Snow Leopard also caused a drop in battery life for some people when first announced but that was fixed. Apple has had 2 major updates already. The very least they could do is update the battery life estimates on their website.

Ok, it's good to know I can replace the battery, but with my old MBP I can have 2 batteries and swap them out.

At this time only thing i've been running was safari, email and itunes. that's it, no drastic apps that would drain up battery. I'm going to do a few tests, turn off bluetooth, wifi and run it for a day and see what happens. I bet the 8hrs won't work still.

For Safari, are you running sites with Flash-enabled content? If so, expect battery life to be reduced. My current MBP has a battery life of 8 hours and 20 minutes with very light Safari browsing with 3 tabs, wifi off and brightness at 20%.
