I found the below which is now old and no longer up to date. Being a newbie and pc convert can anyone please update whats below for the new mac book pro as I received mine yesterday and want to make sure I cover all the bases prior to just installing stuff and using it.

I wouldn't personally go 'looking for problems'. The machines covered by good warranty, so all's I did was just use it as a needed - with the exception of having a good visual inspection.

You don't need to calibrate the battery anymore. Modern battery technology does not require it.

Personally, I do an all round visual check, give the new Mac a wipe over with a damp micro fibre cloth, put it in the case of my choice, test that it's all running and that's it.

Once a month, the case comes off for cleaning...That's it.

Wow. That is painful to read or even worry about.
