Unfortunately I didn't stay ahead of the rumors on the core i-series processors and got a 2.53 C2D processor. As far as speed goes it's really been adequate, but one I get into processor intensive tasks like large Logic projects and working between Premiere Pro and After Effects it leaves a lot to be desired. I have been pushing my computer to its limits since I got it and decided it's time to give it a break.

My question is, in this situation would it be better to upgrade to one of the new quad-core 15" MBP's and get an external monitor for use at home, or wait for the refresh and get an iMac to do all the heavy lifting. I'm wondering if anyone expects the new iMacs to see a quad-core Sandy Bridge upgrade like the MBP 15" and 17" received.

    Thanks for your help.

High-end iMac is already quad core. It's likely that more models will be quad core after the next update though. I would wait and see what happens.
