Yesterday I took delivery of my brand new MacBook Pro 15" 2.4Ghz SR, and couldn't be happier with my purchase! This is my first Mac, and the computer my MBP is replacing is a Dell Inspiron 2650 that is over 4 years old. While I must say that the Dell only required two calls to tech service over the years, I didn't want to go the Dell route again. After evaluating, trying and comparing as many laptops as possible, I decided to pull the trigger on Apple. Fortunately, I found MacRumors a couple months back, and didn't buy then, thanks to the site mentioning the MBP's were due to be updated. The only area where this computer doesn't rate with the very best machines from other manufacturers is not having the same amount of VRAM available, although 256MB in a new card is hardly tripe. I could go on and on, spouting superlatives regarding this MBP, but the best comparison I can make is this: A BMW 328i and Ford Mustang GT are both cars, both get you from Point A to Point B, both carry passengers and groceries. The Ford is faster in a straight line, and is somewhat less expensive than the BMW. But if given a choice most people over 25 (and many under) would take the BMW and smile like I have since yesterday. The MBP is the BMW of the laptop world.
