Can I use the pc2-5300 ram that came out of my older macbook pro in the new one? The front side buss is faster in the new one.

Nope. The new one uses ddr3 ram, and the sockel is different. (204-pin?) Sorry :(

damn.. well I guess that's good news and bad... good that it's faster.. bad cause now I have 4 gigs of ram with nothing to put them in... poor rams.....

Many people here say they're going to buy an old model, either MBP or MB. I'm sure it won't be hard to sell, and then there's always ebay.

Check out the official MacBook Pro Late 2008 User Manual here (look at page 42). It says it uses 200-pin DDR3 PC3-8500, but doesn't say whether it takes DDR2 or not.
