I found the reviews weak at best. Dave spent half of is video talking about the color and fingerprints. With the CNET review, I couldn't make it past the first 30 seconds before turning her off. Basically, the videos are nothing but fluff. If you are an average user looking for real day to day honest feedback, wait for see reviews from people here on MR.
Agreed - particularly poor efforts from most techtubers I thought.

The catch is that it is $800 cheaper than the M3 Max... The horror!
lol I have no interest in spending over $4K on a laptop at this point in time. I get my 14" M3 Pro tomorrow. I was going to get the 16" with a larger SSD and decided I really didn't need the extra size or the large SSD. I don't see myself changing my mind a third time but, we shall see the farther I get over the return period.

Did you get the base m3?

M3 and M3 Max are significant leaps forward.

M3 Pro is a disappointment. The "middle option" doesn't seem as appealing anymore. If they can get a 20% CPU performance improvement out of M3 and 50% out of the Max, then only 6% for the Pro is inexcusable. The Pro shouldn't be the "ugly stepchild" that makes you go for the Max. Prior to M3, it was a significant improvement over the base chip and was a true "middle of the road" option. It doesn't seem to be anymore.
As several pundits have said, and I think there’s some merit to it, this gen seems to be realigning what the tiers represent. Expect regular uplifts from this point forward.

You hit the nail right on the head! I feel like a lot of people who would have been fine with an M3 Pro are just going for the M3 Max because we keep getting the message that the M3 Pro is not worth buying, period. Not true! The M3 Pro is still an improvement over the M2 Pro, however moderate, and it is definitely the chip you should go for in many cases (e.g. you don't need much power but want a big 16" display and great battery life, you do light 4K editing but nothing too wild...). Going for the M3 Max is actually a poor decision for many if not most customers, nevermind how huge the leap with respect to M2 Max.
Edited to: Going with the M3 over an M2 is actually a poor decision for most customers.

Let's be honest, a majority of MBP users are of the Starbucks variety...

Dave said his full review is coming and that this was just a quick video.

If people paid attention to the videos instead of jumping to disparage them, they'd maybe notice things like that.
I think Dave2D's was probably one of the better ones I saw, but so many others were glorified unboxing videos with nothing in the way of discussion beyond Apple's talking points. Notebookcheck's review and Geekerwan's were decent.

I only go to Starbucks for their strawberry frap. Swear. Nothing to do with an M3 Max in space black so I can lord over the plebs.

Actually after this 48GB M3, I'll have to start brewing my own coffee for a while. Till the M8 comes out.

If Apple Silicon hits a road block in say 10 years, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple goes back to Intel. They just might use a special strategy and call it Apple Silicon with x86 extensions.

Speaking of roadblocks
