Okay I know its comming out in two days but I am curious to hear everyone's wish list for the new macbook. I have a few of mine I decided to share

- Aluminum case it just looks so sharp and i love it (i know ive seen the pictures and its probably going to happen but its totally sweet)

- Dedicated Video card. I know it may not happen but if they had it with the higher end models that would be awsome.

- Blu ray drive (i know it may just be for the MBP but what a great seller that would be)

- Bluetooth first row remote ( now i am just getting pickey but that be a great feature)

Just a few i had everyone else throw in your two cents. Dont get me wrong i wouldnt expect to get that all for the 800 dollar price point but for the higher end macbook i would see myself dropping the 1400 dollars for those features.

Just a lower price is all I ask for. Along with a well built aluminum case that won't crack like the plastic ones (though I've never actually seen one crack, and my school has three labs of nothing but MacBooks from the Classrooms of the Future grant).

- 2.4GHz (base model).
- 160GB HDD (base model).
- 2GB Ram Standard (base Model).
- Superdrive in all models.
- Aluminum Casing.
- Thinner; Not so thin that it almost makes the MBA obsolete.
- Glass Trackpad.
- Decent price drop.
- Black and Silver options.
- 320GB HDD (high end model).
- 4GB Ram (high end model; one can dream).
- 2.5GHz or 2.6GHz (middle and high end model).
- Blue Ray; Eh, I know the odds are against it but that would be nice.

Hmm... this thread just inspired me to make a Mac Mini refresh wish list thread.

No, because that's never been done before...

A trade-in program for older MacBooks. Just in case...

They've done that with other products so that's a good possibility.
Like maybe trade it if you have purchased a MacBook in the last month.
But because of the many different models that are rumored I wouldn't be surprised if they had a small fee if they did this.

OR, do you mean an actual trade in program for all older MacBooks no matter when they were bought?
That would be nice too, they would most likely sell them as refurbs.

Well, I'll search first.
I normally try to do that before I make a thread.

[EDIT] So your saying that a MacBook wish list thread has never been done before?[/EDIT]

Well, I distinctly remember making a Mini wish list thread a few months back. Here is the link. Just in case you're interested.

good replies everyone. The multi touch trackpad has to be there as well as the led backlit. agreed with both of those. If you start the mac mini wish list thread let me know the link.

I suppose you're right.
Well that one is only a for a specific opinion on what you want, especially since it is a poll.
You also said not to list a bunch of stuff.
That's kinda one thing I would want people to put if I made a thread like that.
When (if) I make one it will probably get a different type of responses since there's rumors that it may be upgraded in November.

Anyways... we're getting a little off topic here. xD

Doesn't anyone using a mac notebook care about size and weight? I wish the new macbook would be under 4 lbs. The current mackbook pro is ridiculously heavy and the macbook is also way too heavy for a 13 inch notebook.

i hope the new one weighs at most 4.5lbs (weight of 12" powerbook)

Hahaha.
I mentioned that I want it to be thinner.

I really don't mind the weight of the current MB at all. I think it's fine. Why does an extra pound/1.5 pounds matter that much? If you want something less than four pounds that's as powerful as the MB, I don't think you'll be very happy when the update rolls around. I don't see how the MB could get that much lighter without sacrificing power.

Gimme an ATI card. Please, Apple.

Oh, hard drive upgrade please. Toss in an option for an SSD, 7200 RPM, up to 320 gigs.

Wouldn't it be funny if Apple got rid of the MacBook line, did something like the transitions between the iBook and MacBook? Lol, Steve Jobs would leave the stage and laugh so hard. Livebloggers would be entering aluminum macbook before they heard anything...

1.3 inches thick. Best graphics that are possible in there as a BTO. Starting at $700 (for the low-end model) to whatever is reasonable (not overpriced) for the high-end. High-end has a reasonable processor, and some good HD's available (of course it's cheapest just to replace them).

all the above, & I never thought I'd have to write this but... I'm hoping for firewire , from what I've been reading it seems that firewire might be dropped

lol  that's too funny

Yeah, I know I contradicted myself, I just got bored and decided to make the thread.

It wasn't the contradiction ...., I just thought it was funny , iParis seemed very keen to start the thread.. , no offense intended to iParis but there isn't a prize for starting threads , or is there :)

Oh. Well, I explained it to him in a PM, he was cool about it.

  • LED backlit display
  • multi-touch trackpad
  • backlit keyboard
any graphics bump is welcome.

1.5 lbs in the competitive world of PC notebooks is huge. Take a look at the Sony Z series...3.5 lbs and out specs anything apple makes. Same with the Lenovo X301. If these guys can do it apple should too. Thin doesn't mean much when the thing weighs 5 lbs.
