Im just about going to order my first mac. Deciding between the refurbished Macbook 2.2 ghz white or black. Anyway for those who already own them, do you see discoloring on the palm rests on the white and are the finger prints from oil very visible on black?

Basically which gets worse over time, the discoloration or the fingerprints? should i fork over the extra 200 for a paint job? I need to ditch my pc because its on its last legs but would hate to have the same problem i have with my current toshiba laptop.

My wife and I own black MB and don't really have the oily issues that a lot of people have mentioned. Supposedly the discoloration has been fixed with new plastics that Apple is now using for the White.

no discoloring for me and ive had my macbook for over 7 months.
apple has pretty much resolved this problem with all the new macbooks so you shouldnt run into this at all.

but when it did happen before, apple would replace the casing for you.

Well the blackbook is brutal with fingerprints. They will show everything...it can look nasty but they are easy to wipe off. The oil is also a problem but I have found that Mr. Clean magic eraser takes care of the problem.

I picked black because I simply preferred it more and it had a more professional look. If you can live with the white save the money and buy that. If you really want the black and don't mind paying more then go for that. It was basically an emotional impulse buy for me...lol:rolleyes:
