New Magic Keyboard, volume and screen brightness functions don't work

I have a 2013 iMac with Catalina 10.15.7. I bought a new magic Keyboard two years ago and it worked perfectly until last week when I spilled liquids on it and it got broken. I went and bought a new Magic Keyboard and everything is otherwise fine, but with this version the function keys (upper row) don't work correctly. I cannot adjust the screen brightness and volume, does nothing. The F11 shows the desktop if I select the option (see screenshot), but I cannot make it to adjust the volume.

There are no volume related settings in the keyboard settings menu and I also don't have the settings that would make the F keys to function normally.

I have restarted the computer twice, paired the keyboard twice, no help.

Any ideas?

Yeah, they’ve changed something with the audio keys on the new keyboards. It’s not just a settings issue.
