I currently use Sparrow but I am a bit tempted to give Lion's revamped mail a try. I currently use both a gMail and a Google Apps account for my business and I got them hooked up via IMAP etc.

    Got a few questions:

    1. It appears it is actaully threading my converstion correctly, anyone else having any issues? This was the #1 reason I went to gMail to begin with
    2. What are these numbers? I cant for the life of me figure it out? [IMG]

    3. Any reason to use gMail or Sparrow over the new mail?

    Thanks much!

    1. Nope, works fine. Always has. It sometimes adds in things based on subject that it shouldn't, though. But apart from that..

The number of messages in a conversation.

    1. Threading works very well.
    2. Those numbers are the number of emails in the conversation
    3. I've always used Mail over Gmail web interface

That can't be right, I got 11+ "conversations" (there showing with the breaks even) and the number is showing only 1 or 2...

I'm not sure of the usefulness of a counter for how many messages are in a conversation, it seems to me more likely that it's a counter of unread messages, which is a much more useful figure.

    Don't suppose you can confirm?

It is totally random... My only guess is that since I just started using it going forward it will be more accurate in judging how many conversations are in thread. The iPhone has an almost identical arrow in fact for just that.

In regard to the iPhone however it not as good as gMail as it is only threading message immediately in my inbox. The new mail app goes through every folder (or label) and groups them. I wish the iPhone version did this as well...

I ddi notice as I went scrolled throughout the conversation thread the unread indicator disappeared on the message and once there were all scrolled through the the blue unread indicator in the message list disappears as well Meaning all the conversations in that thread were supposedly read
