Frankly it is irrelivent whether Google displays more information on their maps. Once Google denied the use of their maps for turn by turn navigation, they ceased to be a long term option for iOS.

Not true. Google was more than happy to give it to Apple, but Apple was tired of paying Google royalties on every iPhone they sold when Google was such a big competitor of theirs. So they decided to invest and come up with their own solution, which is what we see now. Apple is now Google-free, except for supporting their search engine of course, which they'll never get away from.

In midtown Manhattan you NEED all the details you can get.
The Apple map doesn't even tell you what the direction the flow of traffic is on each street.
VERY important info to have if your trying to figure out how to get too/from someplace.

Exactly.

I love Apple as much as the next person on MacRumors but come on, let's get real.

Agreed. There is big tendency to evangelize and apologize for Apple hear. Hey, I love them and their stuff too. It might be a good thing that Apple has their own maps software that they can control and grow. Maybe one day it will far surpass Google Maps. But for now, it seems like their maps are not nearly as good. It's fine to admit this and call them on it. They are great, and excel at most things they do. But, their maps definitely need to improve to be anywhere close to current Google Maps.
