Maybe the upcoming Snow Leopard could be a reason to go with the 2.4 GHz?

Snow Leopard has been rewritten to run more efficiently that Leopard. Since it's almost a maintenance release, Snow Leopard probably shouldn't slow your system down.

I ordered the 2.0 one, still not sure, but it's prolly for the best. I'll lose less money when I sell it in 10 months to get a new one ;) Im a student so I can't be going around with old laptops ;)

I never came close to maxing out my CPU in my late 07 santa rosa MB. And it scores lower then the current 2.0. And I still did alot of multitasking, gaming and stuff on my old MB.

of course they'll make use of the extra performance. the real question is whether they will be able to tell a difference betw. 2.0 and 2.4

technically, if you spec the 2.0 and 2.4 the same (both 250gb HDD) the difference between the two is 150$ for the 0.4GHz boost...

personally I'm gonna go with the 2.0 because although I will play games with it, a C2D at 2.0GHz will be overkill to begin with...

and I have a powerful desktop for all the heavy lifting...

I think Abraham Lincoln said it best;

"When buying a new computer, always get the biggest, fastest, highest spec'd computer you can afford."

Welp, I wound up getting the MB 2.0 and I really couldn't be happier so far. I highly recommend it.

You know that the only time u'll use that extra performance is while doing heavy CPU work, like proffessional graphic/video work and so on? A consumer just using it for movies, surfing, gaming and such won't use that power.

Once BestBuy gets the MB in stock I plan on purchasing either the 2.0 or 2.4 model. Basically I'm looking for opinions on which one to choose.

I'm going to be using this for work and personal use, at work I will mostly be running Bootcamp with XP or Vista, using Photoshop and Visual Studio 2008. I do web design work and some .NET programming. I never really have to edit a PSD file larger than a meg. For personal use it'll be web browsing, email and some light web design work.

Is it the worth the extra money to get the 2.4 compared to the 2.0? I don't really care about the keyboard back lighting. I guess I'm wondering if the performance gains are worth the $600 price difference.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

I was very surprised to find out last night that the Best Buy in my small Texas town had received Thursday night 2 of the 2.4 MB's and had 15 of the 2.0 models. I bought the 2.4 and absolutely love it. Probably the most beautiful Mac I've ever seen, along with my Silver 20" iMac back at my office, and the MacBook Air I had earlier this year.
