Once anyone gets to test the new MBA out (next month?), if you can please post the results on heat issues. Eg the initial MBA in many cases was only usable at 50% CPU/GPU (for more than a few minutes) due to heat issues. Does the new one fix it? If so, it is effectively more than double the speed.. more like 3-4x faster if that makes sense. If GPU is much faster AND heat issues are fixed, this could be a huge performance boost..

I think this might prove difficult since 10.5.5 solved all problems (or at least hid it very well).

Apple's UK website says the following:

The NVIDIA GeForce 9400M provides up to an amazing 4x performance boost over the original MacBook Air. MacBook Air continuously monitors system thermal and power conditions, and may adjust processor speed as needed to maintain optimal system operation.

I think it would be hilarious if the 4w TDP drop by the new CPU is matched by increased heat by the new nvidia chip.

I think the new graphics chip will help keep it cooler. With a more capable GPU, the CPU (and I bet the GPU) operate at much lower %'s thereby generating less heat overall.

My MBP runs at a much lower CPU% because the GPU processor is so much more capable. Lower CPU % = lower heat = lower fan. When it does use a lot of CPU (which is rare) the fan can crank up. A graphics task (e.g. video) that would have the MBA at over 50% CPU is only about 10% on the MBP.

That coupled with moving to 45nm technology could make a big difference.

    Ditto. Couldn't agree more.
