Sorry for my ignorance if this is common.. This is my first mac notebook and i'm pretty puzzled on whats going on. First night with my new macbook air 13".. installed basic apps and parallels for a windows vm. I was having issues connecting to my NAS so i rebooted.. appeared to be taking forever to reboot so i closed the lid. An hour later opening the lid.. no response.. power button.. no response.. any ideas what's going on? Is there a way to hard reset it? I tried it on power and on battery with no luck..

    edit:
of course.. as I post this.. i try once again to press the power button.. it powers up fine.. still curious if this is a common issue..

With some of the Mac notebooks you have to depress the power button for about 2 seconds to get it to boot. This might be your issue, you might not have pressed the power button long enough to turn it on.

Closing the lid while rebooting is a bad idea (if that is what you did). If it's crashed, you need to hold the power button for around 10 seconds to force a shutdown. Then press the power button again for a couple of seconds to restart.
