New MBP - Doesn't recognize Superdrive?

    Hello everyone!

    I just bought my first Mac, and it is a refurb 17" 2.33 GHz Macbook Pro. I absolutely love it... except, I'm going to install Windows XP using BootCamp and it wants to burn a CD of the drivers Windows will need. I put a disc in when it asked me to, but it says "No Devices Available: No devices are available for burning." Do I need to setup my burner somehow?

    It seems either the Superdrive is damaged or not connected properly.

    Since it is new you can take it to a Apple Store for them to fix it.

    I really can't think this is a software problem.

    Try this. Click the blue apple at the top-left. Then select "About this Mac" and then click "More Info". See if the superdrive appears there.

    Thank you for your reply!

    I checked the More Info section (good to know that's there!) and it listed my Superdrive in the Disc Burning section.

    So I decided to run a test on some music. I burned a music CD just fine.

    It must just be the BootCamp installer. Weird.

    Oh well, its not imperative I install Windows on there...
