new MBP from previous backup. Few apps not working

I just got a new MBP that replaced my 07 MBP. I setup the new machine from a backup of the old. Most things are working fine, but I've noticed a few applications that won't launch. iPhoto, Facetime, photoshop CS5, and MS Office (Word, Excel, etc) are ones I've found so far. I've already tried reinstalling CS5 and that didn't seem to do the trick. I'm stuck.

Suggestions?

looks like a shutdown/restart did the trick. mods, please delete.
