New MBP GPUs

SO now that it seems the new MBPs will be released in the next 2 or 3 weeks, considering GPU release dates and everything, what is the most likely GPU we'll see in the 15" and 17" MBPs?

Don't say 9600M GT or I'll self combust.

i always thought faster was better
usually we only get like 5% - 20% faster gpus in updates so 30% would be awesome

3850 is very unlikely, seeing as it does not exist.
3800 and 3870, however, is more likely.

plus the shader and memory is faster too

Erm... even the 9700 GT isn't twice as fast as the 8600. Where are you getting your information?

And the 3870 won't make an apperance in the 15" laptops, as it's for larger ones, meaning 17" or larger... and probably even the 17" is too thin for a 3870. Would be nice though.

Since laptop GPUs are more or less equal to desktops GPUs, you could use the following review as a guide:

Faster clock speeds doesn't entirely mean faster GPU especially when the 2nd gpu is newer in technology/design.

Since it seems the consensus is that a 9600 will be put in, anyone know the sorts of fps it will get (1280x1024/800 no aa etc) in COD4 / UT3 / Assasins Creed / Devil May Cry 4 / Battlefield 2 ^__^ oh...and crysis and starcraft 2 if you happen to know! I guess fps is the stuff that really matters, right?

Add 5-10 FPS to the current gen Macbook Pro fps.

It'll run SC2 fine. It's a Blizzard game . . .

Out of curiosity, what are those original fps? ive been searching for the data with the current macbook pros but i cant find anything except those youtube videos with the guy playing the games...any ideas?

Sorry I dont think that 9600m gt is 200% faster then the 8600m gt. At most it is around 10% faster.
