This isn't a complaint, I'm just oddly curious. When I unpacked my new MBP and took the foamy wrap off of it, there was a single drop of water on the back. Anyone else seen this? Just seems odd that a single drop of water would be there, and that it wasnt soaked up by the foam wrap during shipment.

Foam has a tendency to repel water, not absorb it. This is why some cups are made out of styrofoam.

Where exactly was this drop? On the bottom or top? Near the battery?

yup, it gets fairly humid around here. could it have made its way through the box? this thing was new, sealed, packed in original shipping box.

Could water have survived the trek from Shanghai to the States without evaporating? Seems odd to me.

Doubt it made the whole trip from China that way.

Out of curiosity, was your mouth open while unpacking it? Maybe your were drooling over the sleek, slender, sexy body of the machine and didn't realize it. Hmm...

    That is strange.

You should call Apple immediately and tell them. You are probably fine and there is probably nothing at all wrong with the computer, but you want to make sure that you have this documented with Apple in a case. Make sure you get the case # as well. This might help you if anything does go wrong. Apple will tell you that you spilled something on the computer if you have to send it in for repair and there is liquid spots in the computer. If you get this documented now, it could help your cause down the road.

Just tell them what happened and that the computer seems to be working fine and that you just want it to be documented.

Was it with you on the plane (as in a carry-on)? If it was in baggage, then it is very possible for the water to condense. The compartments for luggage get very, very cold during flight.
