Just bought a new MBP, a 13" base model. The firewire 800 port works fine. The USB ports work fine. The 1st software update was huge, but after the reboots all is fine. The screen works fine, no dead pixels. It is only slightly warmer than my 2009 13" MBP. Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera have no issues. It connects fine to the FIOS network. Moral: Just because there are seemingly many many MBPs with issues, the average user will not have problems. I think newbies look at the forums and think MBPs and Macs in general are trouble prone and have lots of issues right out of the box. It is inevitable that with millions of Macs sold there will be a certain percentage that have issues, but this does not mean that you are going to get a bad one.
