Trying to decide between that base MBP with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB, and middle of the line MBP with 512MB RAM....

How much difference will the 256MB of VRAM make?

and if any significant amount what applications (or games) will take advantage of this additional RAM?

and finally/specifically will the MacPro apps (Final Cut, Aperture, etc) receive a significant boost from the additional VRAM?

Thanks

The 512 of Vram will be about a 5% increase. Very few games or applications will benefit from it.

Anyone have any ideas about how the extra 256MB might or might not effect performance of Shake, Final Cut, etc?

Thanks

any game or graphics setting that can benefit from 512 mg of ram would run horribly anyways on a 8600GT

Final Cut doesn't use the graphics card unless you're doing color correction and other advanced effects.

I got the 256, I hardly play games except halo sometimes and lots of apps don't benefit from more video ram.
