In common with most of the posters, I'd recommend going for a refurb MBP; they are excellent computers, have been thoroughly tested, come with the standard warranty (though I'd recommend getting Applecare as well) and are offered with a generous discount.

Cheers

I hope you meant 2.4GHz :D

Some say the OS will only recognize 3GB. Is there a significant improvement in overall speed putting in more than 2GB? I know more is better, but how much better?

Indeed I meant 2.4GHz :) Thanks for the correction.

The previous generation MBP running Leopard should have no problem using 4GB. For me, I can use the extra RAM, as my machine will be used for running memory-hungry development tools (Eclipse), VMWare, and the occasional video editing (Final Cut). If you don't use any memory-hungry apps, 2GB should be fine, and you may not notice a difference.

refurbed sounds like the best way to go and def. the best value.

why is there a $200 price difference for the MBP's from the refurb section and the clearance section. in both cases the mac's should be brand new. at least i never heard that somebody got a refurb with visible signs of use.

usually ones from the Clearance section are 1 revision old or overstock items, that is my experience anyway.

but yes, all of my refurbed products have been like new with 0 signs of visible wear.

I ordered the $1349 refurb macbook pro! I'm so excited! A MUCH better deal over the new Macbook, IMO. It was time I replaced my old dinosaur (look at sig)

You won't get it then. You will have to pick it up at FEDEX unless you pre-signed for the delivery. Pain in the butt.

argh....how lat do the deliver?

i thought the last delivery attempt could be around 6pm.

i might be able to make it home in time. if not i'll have to go to their depot.

EDIT: well it's just 15 min from home. so that's ok.

I just bought a refurb 15", 2.5 GHz, 512 MB Video card Macbook Pro for a couple hundred dollars more then the new Macbook. I do play games, so the video card suits me more. Now I just need to get a dock and I'm good to go.

there is a docking solution for MBP's?
