So I think I am regretting not getting the i7 iMac because my 1080p HEVC encodes take the timeline length or doubled. Meaning if I have a 1 hour video, it will take 1-2 hours to encode. These are just screen recordings mostly with very light edits and audio adjustments

I’m not sure how much the GPU is used with basic edits, titles and transitions.

I was thinking about the 6 core mini. However, if it will not help at all there is no point. I have a custom built PC with two 2560x1440 displays so that’s not an issue using those.

Isn't Compressor possibly able to hand off some tasks to additional machines within a LAN to speed the export up? It would need an article clarifying just what's possible by using the Mini as a home brew 'server farm' device.

Well the new mini has a HEVC hardware encoder so it should be just fine.

    Worth it over my iMac?
I think I read that somewhere. I just want to know if it will speed things up before I spend the money.

Wait for benchmarks and you'll know.
