I can't find any color profiles for this, I'd like to get the best out of this monitor was wondering if someone can help me calibrate this beast.

also I read somewhere that for non-mac displays you need to do something(I can't quite remember what it was) I think it has something to do with text or something don't know, hope someone knows what I'm talking about.

You can calibrate by eye under the Color tab of Displays in System Preferences. This is usually a hit-or-miss endeavor. Since you didn't go with an IPS panel, I imagine you're not interested in a hardware calibrator so the built-in software is your best bet. Downloading color profiles from someone else won't work too well as calibration is heavily dependent on local lighting conditions and variation between panels, even on the same model.
