New MS Word for ipadOS?

I'm also using the MX Master 3 and it feels very much like the desktop - selecting, etc.

Good for you making the video, good demonstration. Answer: yes, it works different, and for whatever reason yet to be found out you are missing out on the improvement.
Here is what I see in the new version: The blinking cursor when the mouse/trackpad is not moving is blue. As soon as I move around using the trackpad, what's moving is another grey cursor (not the generic iPadOS grey circle!) Once you stop moving the grey cursor fades away. And by pressing and then swiping text can be selected and turns blue, without any popup dialogue.

So.... for some reason you are not getting this feature. Here's hoping you can figure out a solution, I think the improvement is worth it!

Hm maybe it has to do with the fact that I'm in Germany.. however I'd guess you, Ybersetzer, are too?

Thats so weird!!

I just checked with my girlfriends ipad (she has the same one!) and there it works!! I'm sure I have updated, I can also see the changelog of 11 hours ago and there no newer update available for me to apply..

Yet for me it wont work :/

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling it - worth a try as your video clearly shows it is not working as expected. Also, what button mappings do you have for your mouse?

done already..

actually never configured the buttons, use the mouse for my windows pc. But have tried with a master 2 from my gf as well and my master 3 on her iPad and on her ipad the update is always spot on..

You mean the apple notes app? Or OneNote? No it works in neither of both .. but is the new mouse support also applied to the other office apps in the same way? Also in Power point it doesnt work as it should now..

Interesting. In Notes (the Apple stock app) I can left click and drag and select text just as in Word. It sounds like the new mouse support functionality in iOS isn't working at all on your iPad.

That is so weird.. since when has that changed? I mean since when is the mouse support so nice in notes as well?
Will the mouse support then also work in Goodnotes?

How is it possible that it is not working for me... just dont get it.

I don't have Goodnotes but based on requests I have seen for mouse scrolling support in it, I don't think a mouse works with it. As to when a mouse started working with Notes, it was likely in the iOS 13.x timeframe.

At this point you may want to consider a fresh reinstall of iOS after doing a backup - a pain, yes but it really looks like there is a fundamental problem in your current setup. Beyond what you have already tried, I'm not sure what else you can do.
 
Unforutunately I'd need to do this onto an external HDD on my Win10 PC.. and I get the error: "Can't do a backup, because the current backup is damaged" although there is not backup anywhere .. ever! cant find one in the setting where one manages devices and nowhere in the mobilesync folder.. it's just haunted.

Do a full uninstall/reinstall of iTunes. Or use the free version of iMazing. Nothing is ever easy with this stuff.
 
Spend hours creating ssd space for the backup, did the backup now and tried to reinstall. New error: "Can't download ipad software. Necessary resources couldn't be found" (Translated from German) Googling the error only leads to proposals that don't help me. You'r damn right, nothing is ever easy with iTunes. Tried on Win10 and newest iTunes as well as newest BigSur Sofware on MacBook..

Is deleting the iPad on the iPad itself without a system also a clean install? Then why does it say use an external device everywhere, even on the Apple Service page?

That is exactly what I found.. but neither applies: no jailbreak no intent to update to old version.. normally trying to reinstall. The mentioned solution (use recovery mode) is a link to exactly that procedure which produces the Error for me...

Last resort may be DFU Mode restore. I've never done it but there are guides. Here's one -

Thanks man.. I'm actually so annoyed by all this that I wanna find out what's wrong with the iPad.. gonna do some research when I have time the following days and gonna try it via a PC/MacBook again. Thanks so far! I will get back here when I found a solution

So I have it now..finally.

Ever since the mouse support was on the table I had betas and all to try it and therefore it has been necessary to activate Assisstive Touch. Although I have no beta version anymore, I have always had AT active. I deactivated it now and that seems to have been the problem.. Thanks for all your support and see you around :)
