Not sure if this is new in Watch OS5 ? But it is something I've not seen before. In the setting app on the watch you now have a way to select which Wireless network you want to connect to etc. With out having to connect via the Phone etc.
Previously - my watch would never connect to my Orbi Mesh Network. However, as soon as I installed this Watch OS5 Beta software my watch now connects to my network with no issues.
