New old iPhone user coming from android

Hey guys. I jailbroke back when I had a 3G but that was years ago. I've since been on android and am way out of the jailbreak loop.

My wife gave me her iPhone6 and I switched for the much better music creation apps on iOS.

Is it even still reasonable and worth it to jailbreak?

I'm happy to be in this group and look forward to awesome iPhone fun.

f.lux, Activator, Messages+, Callbar, Eclipse 3, Anchor and Monochrome.

I have a specific look I want to my phone (grayscale) and Eclipse 3 and Monochrome give me that. Being able to text and make calls from the lockscreen are also important to me.

That said there's no singular favorite as to me they are all means to solve a particular issue I have with iOS.

I'm on 10.1.1 and not JB. Should i not update with the new iOS ota if I want to jailbreak? I have seen mention of things like tethered and semi tethered and not sure if I can even jailbreak at this point

I'm sorry, I can't help you with that. I'm still on 9.0.2 with my iPhone so my interest in the latest jailbreak has been cursory at best.

Stay on 10.1.1 for now. That's there only iOS 10 version with a hope of a stable JB release. There's a rough alpha JB out now for 10.1.1 only, but it's highly recommended to wait for the gamma release due this week or next from Luca.
