Do you think that these new batches of 15" MBP's have that problem fixed?

Or maybe yellow-tint on 17" hi-res LED

Start your bets!

I would say that NO, they haven't fixed it because they still are using the old batches of LCDs that they most likely purchased last year. I've seen relatively new macbook pros (a month old) with the yellowing. maybe the new 17" will get the yellow, and the 15" will finally get the screen it deserves? Just to be fair...

oh they will have no yellowing, because if they did, that would make apple and steve complete stupid fuqrs. apple and steve are not stupid fuqrs. simple logic, my friend. :apple:

yeah i thought that it was a problem with the screen, not what type of cpu is in the inside..so my vote is if its still a problem the upgrade won't fix it

i would love to order the new macbook pro but im afraid to spend that much money and get the yellowish screen problem....:( don't know what to do!!

Get one and if it has the issue, force apple to replace the LCD until you get one that doesn't have that issue. Doesn't sound fun, but chances are you'll be fine from the beginning and you won't need to replace.

I just noticed, When choosing the 17" Hi-Res LED (Matte) shipping time changes to 7-10 days..

and choosing the Hi-Res LED (Glossy) changes shipping time to 2-3 Weeks.

And there's another option too for all pro models now:

Mark this box if you wish to receive an LCD with 1/3 yellow tint and 2/3 without. This benefits those who are very tall and who therefore do not like to work in the lower portions of the screen. It is also suitable for children who aspire to be graphic designers when they grow up, as the white balance in the lower 1/3 where their eyes are focused is very warm and provides more accurate color rendition.

Seriously, I'm curious about the yellowing too - has Apple finally addressed it?

The reason i haven't got my MBP since summer 2007 is the yellow screen.

I don't think Apple fix that coz the Air has the same problem. All the Air I've seen in Apple store,... has the yellow tint when looking for the side.

I've seen other LED (non apple),... and they were just fine,....

So,... I don't think that issue will be fixed,....for a while.

What's this "yellowing" you all are talking about? Is it very noticeable? Or just a minor problem?

Actually this issue is not from the side. You see it while looking straight on. The yellow tint from the side is normal.

If anyone has seen a Penryn MBP please post if you see a yellowing at the bottom of the display.

thanks,

Jeff

Exactly. Viewing from the side on TN displays will always be distorted and with some kind of inversion or colorcast. With these LED LCDs it happens to be yellow, but the old ones had their color too. The problem is when looking straight on, the lower 1/3 or so has a yellowish discoloration that makes everything tinted, especially whites. It's a very real problem and I hope Apple fixes it soon. I haven't seen it on PC laptops ....

Well here is hoping that they do fix it. I'm going to stop by the apple store tonight.

ugh.. i dont think i see it but then after reading this thread... i think i might.

crap.

any display images to help me?

Yes a band right accross the bottom. The whites look pee yellow down there and nice and white on top.
I ate a restocking fee for this and the keyboard problem I just couldn't take it anymore.

not really. but i'm imagining that i see random yellow spots on my display.

was the problem a whole band at the bottom?
